Changing Your Wedding Due to Covid-19? Here are your First 4 Steps

Many couples are currently facing tough restrictions from COVID-19 and making the decisions to postpone weddings due to this global pandemic. At TwoBirch, our hearts are truly with you, and we understand how unfortunate this is.

Just last week, on March 15, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended postponing or canceling events of more than 50 people for the next eight weeks. Soon after, the White House limited it to gatherings of no more than 10 people. States coast-to-coast are quickly issuing “Stay at Home” orders for nonessential activity and jobs.

Understandably, there are so many moving parts to adjusting the date of your big day so last-minute. You’re probably already getting emails from vendors and guests! It’s all possible, and thousands of couples around the world are doing it right there with you.

Just remember, at the end of the day it’s about getting married to your best friend, surrounded by your loved ones. Both yours, your guests and your vendors’ health is a priority. There are solutions, and we’re here to lay out a few to help and give you peace of mind.

  • Announce the Postponement/Cancelation

Many industry professionals are offering graphic freebies to send out by social media, text or email that the wedding has been postponed. You can source a custom idea on Etsy with a graphic designer, find some on Instagram, or create your own with a user-friendly graphic tool like Canva.

When sending to your guests, some couples are opting to post on social, but not every guest might have an account. Email will definitely be the quickest, and a text is also personal.

  • Rescheduling to a New Date

First things first, contact the venue if you want to reschedule. Like you, many couples will be calling to do the same. Quickly follow up with other vendors and guest accommodations once the new date is finalized. Don’t forget your jeweler!

  • Don’t feel like rescheduling? Think about eloping.

We love that this Houston couple decided they simply wanted to tie the knot.  Close family and friends gathered for a social-distancing elopement on the Galveston beach, and a close friend officiated. Such positivity during this time.
