Susan G. Komen May 5, 2019 Race for the Cure

Susan G. Komen

The Susan G. Komen organization is the world’s largest nonprofit source of funding for the fight against breast cancer. Founded in 1982 by Nancy G. Brinker, who had promised her sister Susan that she would do everything she could to end breast cancer forever, the organization has reduced breast cancer-related deaths by 40 percent between 1989-2016. Today it’s a global organization that has invested more than $2.9 billion in research, community health outreach, advocacy, and programs in more than 60 countries.

Those involved in the organization have a special place in their heart for those affected by breast cancer in North Jersey. Of the almost $3 billion they’ve invested in cancer research and advocacy, nearly $26 million went into research and local community-based breast health screening, treatment, education, and support programs in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.

On May 5th, 2019, the TwoBirch team will be participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at Liberty State Park in Jersey City to raise awareness and money for the fight against breast cancer. If you’d like to join us, you can register as an individual or get a team together for either the run at 8 AM or the walk at 10 AM. You aren’t required to donate past the $25 registration fee, but whatever you do decide to give will go towards the community’s effort to eradicate breast cancer.
